So you have a day in Old Saigon and you don’t know what to do or how to make the most of your time. Worry not! Below I made a small list for recommendations for 24 hours in Ho Chi Minh City!
War Remnants Museum – Ho Chi Minh City is a small walkable city and The War Remnants Museum is a must. You can buy tickets at the door, but make sure you have Vietnamese Dong as most places in Vietnam are still not plastic friendly. Definitely dress for the heat as the entire museum is not air conditioned!
Ben Thanh Market – This open market is Ho Chi Minh’s city main market where locals go to shop. It’s located downtown and you can pick up some really unique gifts or try the street food and coffee! Just be careful crossing the streets as those mopeds do not stop for anything, including you!
Walk Around – Ho Chi Minh City is not filled with tourists which can be a breath of fresh air when traveling. You will get more looks from locals, but this is totally normal! It’s great to walk around and take in the culture. It’s a relatively safe city and I never felt unsafe walking around, that being said make sure you keep your belongings in front of you, especially in crowded areas. Be smart!
People Watch At A Bar – I know 24 hours in any city is never enough time to see it all, but don’t fret. When your legs need a rest from all the walking or you need a break from the sizzling heat, stop in at a local bar. They’re generous with their drinks, and who doesn’t love a good people watch session? Double win!
